Dotty is the most wonderful cat in the world - and probably the most wonderful siamese ever, although I appreciate other siamese owners may disagree!
Dots was my first siamese, but I don't think that is what makes her special - it is a combination of everything about her. When I chose Dotty she was only 4 weeks old and I couldn't wait to collect her at 13 weeks of age. Obviously at only 4 weeks she was tiny - so were her siblings in the litter. However when I collected her at 3 months old I was taken aback. I did not see the others in the litter on this visit, and looking at Dotty it seemed she hadn't grown at all in two months.
Against my better judgement though I took her home and called her my Belsen Girl, as she was almost skeletal - her hips bones stuck out of her sunken body and I spent every day hand feeding her. She had a tendency to have 2-3 bites of her food and wander off, and I'm sure this was the reason for her lack of weight - bullying from her brothers and sisters. I would spend ages over each feed constantly bringing her back to her food bowl. Because of her lack of nourishment she didn't play like a kitten should - she just sat in front of the fire. The change in her however was slow but sure. By the time she had been with me for four weeks I had a kitten that looked healthy and had started to play. She didn't look back.
Dotty followed me everywhere. If I was putting clothes away in the bedrooms she followed me. When I was taking a shower she would wait outside the bathroom door, and when I was reading in bed at night she plonked herself on top of the book! Once she had made me give up reading she loved to climb under the duvet and curl up at the back of my knees.
I love Dotty like a child. Sadly pregnancy did not suit Dotty and she was spayed and now lives with a lovely couple who dote on her as much as I always did - if that's possible! I have frequent news and pictures of Dotty who I still miss desperately and always will.
